In a landmark step toward the holistic development of Ekamra-Bhubaneswar, MLA Babu Singh laid the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹37 crore on Monday.

The projects, focusing on the construction of new roads, drains, and sewerage systems, aim to address long-standing civic issues in various parts of the constituency, marking a significant milestone under the newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha.

The initiatives will benefit several key areas within the Ekamra-Bhubaneswar constituency, including Nuagaon, Maruti Nagar, Bishal City, Apsana Garden, Bijay Vihar, Rudra Vihar, Lingipur, Indira Colony, Mrutyunjay Vihar, and Divya Vihar, among others. These regions, part of Ward No. 59 and Lingipur Panchayat, have long grappled with inadequate infrastructure, particularly the lack of proper roads, drainage, and sewerage systems, causing significant inconvenience to residents, especially during the monsoon season. The new projects are set to alleviate these challenges, ensuring better living conditions for the local population.

Speaking at the event, MLA Babu Singh emphasised the importance of fulfilling election promises and transforming Ekamra-Bhubaneswar into a developed constituency. “The dream of a developed Ekamra is becoming a reality. The residents have long complained about the lack of roads, drains, and sewerage systems, which have caused immense hardship. With these new projects, we aim to resolve these issues swiftly, ensuring that the people of Ekamra no longer face such difficulties,” Singh stated. He assured that the construction work would be completed at the earliest, reflecting the BJP government’s commitment to the constituency’s progress.

Singh highlighted that under the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, development in Ekamra was hindered due to a lack of political will and sincerity, which delayed the implementation of centrally funded projects. “The BJP government is working with the trust of Ekamra’s residents to remove all obstacles and usher in a golden era of development,” he added.

The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, Corporators, Bhubaneswar Block Chairperson, Sarpanch, Samiti Member, Ward Members, along with social activists.

As Ekamra-Bhubaneswar embarks on this transformative journey, residents are hopeful that the new projects will not only address their immediate concerns but also lay the foundation for long-term prosperity in the constituency.
