The Election Commission of India (ECI) extended the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in nine States and three Union Territories.
The poll authority announced the extension on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
The Commission will now continue the enumeration form distribution until December 11, instead of the earlier deadline of December 4. Consequently, officials will publish the draft electoral rolls on December 16, replacing the previous date of December 9. Furthermore, the final voters’ list will be released on February 14, 2026, a week later than the earlier schedule of February 7.
The ECI had initially announced the Special Intensive Revision on October 27. Since then, officials have worked across multiple states and Union Territories to ensure accuracy and inclusivity in the voter rolls. Therefore, the extension provides citizens with additional time to complete the enumeration process and verify their details.
Moreover, the revised timeline underscores the Commission’s commitment to transparency and accessibility. By extending the deadlines, the ECI ensures that eligible voters receive ample opportunity to participate in the democratic process. As a result, the updated schedule strengthens preparations for upcoming elections and reinforces confidence in the electoral system.
