The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has partnered with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to ensure lost or stolen mobile phones of train passengers can be quickly blocked, traced, and recovered.
This collaboration involves the integration of DoT’s Sanchar Saathi platform with Indian Railways’ Rail Madad app.
Passengers can now report their missing mobile phones via the Rail Madad app, where the information will be relayed to the Sanchar Saathi portal. The portal boasts robust features to block, trace, and generate alerts for lost devices. RPF has also conducted training programs for its officers to leverage this system efficiently.
This initiative comes as part of a broader push to enhance digital security for citizens. To date, the Sanchar Saathi platform has achieved significant milestones, such as blocking 30 lakh devices, tracing 18 lakh phones, and recovering nearly 3.87 lakh mobile handsets. Such steps underscore the commitment of both DoT and RPF toward safeguarding telecom resources and bolstering law enforcement efforts.
