Amid the growing controversy over his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has shared a cryptic post on social media hinting at censorship and backlash even before a project’s release.
On Monday, Diljit re-shared an Instagram post titled “Censored before release?”—a likely reference to his previously delayed film Panjab 95, which reportedly faced 127 cuts suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The post included comments from journalist and filmmaker Sunayana Suresh, who praised the film and expressed disappointment over its stalled release, noting that both Diljit and the film’s director had refused to accept the suggested edits.
Diljit’s cryptic post comes in the wake of calls by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to ban his projects in India, accusing him of “hurting Indian sentiments” by working with Hania Aamir. The criticism follows heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military response through Operation Sindoor.
Despite the backlash, Diljit continues promoting Sardaar Ji 3 internationally, without publicly commenting on the controversy surrounding his casting choices.
