Diljit Dosanjh has arrived — and how. After stealing the spotlight at Coachella and Paris Fashion Week, the global Punjabi icon made his Met Gala debut this year, standing tall among Indian trailblazers like Shah Rukh Khan and Kiara Advani.
For fashion’s most elite night, Diljit transformed into a modern-day Maharaja, wearing a custom ensemble by designer Prabal Gurung. Dressed in regal all-white, Dosanjh donned a turban, cape inscribed with Punjabi alphabets, and a sword — a powerful homage to his Punjabi roots. Layers of traditional jewelry added a luxe finishing touch to his royal look.
This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates Black Dandyism and its influence on contemporary menswear. It’s also the first Met Gala in over 20 years to spotlight menswear exclusively. With the dress code titled “Tailored for You,” the exhibit draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion.
The event was co-chaired by stars including Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary co-chair.
Diljit’s cultural moment comes amid a high-energy year. His global Dil-luminati Tour wowed fans across India, Canada, and the U.S., and he’s set to release his next single, “Buck” — a collaboration with K-pop sensation Jackson Wang — on May 9.
