What was meant to be a fun-filled evening at a Coldplay concert in Gillette Stadium turned into a corporate and internet scandal now dubbed “ColdplayGate” — and surprisingly, even The Simpsons got dragged into the drama.
During the concert, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin invited couples to participate in the venue’s classic “kiss cam” moment. As the jumbotron panned across the crowd, it landed on Andy Byron, CEO of the data analytics company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the firm’s Chief People Officer. The two shared a romantic moment on camera — the twist? They’re both married, just not to each other.
Instant Virality, Immediate Fallout
The video of the moment quickly spread across social media, triggering widespread discussions, memes, and questions over workplace relationships and corporate ethics. The situation spiraled further as Astronomer’s internal code of conduct came under scrutiny.
In the wake of the scandal, Andy Byron resigned. The company issued a statement on LinkedIn stating:
“Our leaders are expected to uphold the values that define us. Recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board has accepted it. Co-founder Pete DeJoy will serve as interim CEO while we search for a successor.”
Meanwhile, Byron’s spouse reportedly dropped his surname on social media, adding fuel to the fire.

The Simpsons ‘Prediction’ – Real or AI Fakery?
Soon after the video went viral, posts began surfacing claiming that The Simpsons had “predicted” the scandal. One particularly viral image showed animated characters resembling Andy and Kristin sharing a kiss on a stadium jumbotron — supposedly from Season 28, Episode “Kiss Kiss”, where Homer and Marge are caught in a similar moment.
However, fact-checkers and fans were quick to investigate. It turns out the image wasn’t from any Simpsons episode — it was AI-generated using tools that transform real photos into cartoon-style renderings.
Al Jean, longtime showrunner of The Simpsons, dismissed the theory outright:
“We write satire, not prophecy. Any similarity is pure coincidence.”
Online Buzz Continues
