Odisha Vigilance has arrested Sub-Collector Dhiman Chakma for allegedly accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe in exchange for facilitating land-related approvals.
The sting operation was conducted in Kalahandi, where Chakma was caught red-handed by the Vigilance team.
Following his arrest, authorities conducted searches at his government residence, unearthing Rs 47 lakh in cash, suspected to be linked to illegal financial dealings.
Vigilance officials have confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the corruption network.
This arrest marks a significant crackdown on bureaucratic corruption in Odisha, reinforcing the state’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
The accused will be produced before a special court, and legal proceedings will follow as per standard protocol.
