Odisha’s Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Deoranjan Kumar Singh, conducted a comprehensive review of developmental initiatives in Nuapada district today. The visit focused on assessing the progress of various projects announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, emphasizing the district’s transformation into a model of all-round development.

Upon landing at the local Gotma Airstrip, Singh chaired a high-level review meeting at the District Collector’s conference hall. The meeting was attended by District Collector Madhusudan Dash, Khariar MLA Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi, Nuapada MLA Jay Dholakia, Principal Secretary of Water Resources Department Smt. Shubha Sharma, DIG South-Western Range Kuwar Bishal Singh, Superintendent of Police Amritpal Singh, a representative of the local MP (Advocate Prasanna Padhi), and other senior district-level officers.

Welcoming the participants, the District Collector outlined the meeting’s objectives. Shri Singh highlighted that Nuapada, being a backward and aspirational district, holds a special place in Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision. The CM aims for its comprehensive development, positioning it as an exemplary district in the state and the country.

The review centered on projects worth ₹1,555 crore announced by the Chief Minister, with a significant allocation of ₹802 crore dedicated to irrigation infrastructure to uplift farmers. Key directives included:

  • Expediting the completion of irrigation schemes to ensure timely water availability for agriculture.
  • Accelerating the drilling and electrification of 1,064 deep borewells.
  • Fast-tracking approved road construction and building projects.

Both MLAs presented local issues and stressed the need for prompt resolution. The District Collector showcased innovative local initiatives, including campaigns for migrant workers, enhanced public hearings, plastic-free drives, “Jhie Pain Gachh Tie” (a tree for every girl child), health services for the elderly, “One Day for the Unborn Child,” animal and bird welfare days, village-level revenue administration, ward-level urban governance, and monthly district development meetings.

Singh commended these innovative approaches and called upon all officers to maintain coordination and deliver dedicated services.

Following the meeting, the Development Commissioner addressed a press conference, stating: “As per the Chief Minister’s instructions, we conducted a detailed review of various projects in Nuapada. Some are completed, others are progressing, some are in the tendering stage, and DPRs for the remaining have been prepared. We discussed all in detail. With the cooperation of the people and efforts of officials, all projects will be completed within the stipulated timelines.”

He added that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi holds a special emotional connection with Nuapada and is personally committed to its holistic progress.

Local residents expressed optimism that the Development Commissioner’s visit would accelerate project implementation, bringing tangible benefits to the district.
