Delhi University (DU) has seen a robust response to its first round of undergraduate (UG) admissions for the 2025-26 academic year. According to the university’s latest update, 72,659 candidates have accepted their seat allocations, while colleges have approved 14,939 applications so far.

These numbers come following the release of the first Common Seat Allocation System – Undergraduate (CSAS-UG) list on July 20 at 5 PM. The total number of seat allocations stands at 93,166 for 71,624 available seats, indicating room for reallocation and seat shifting in upcoming rounds.

A senior DU official explained that the over-allocation aligns with past trends where students frequently shuffle between colleges to secure preferred choices.

Key Highlights:

  • 27,533 acceptances occurred within just two hours of the list’s release.

  • DU is offering 79 UG programmes across 69 colleges.

  • Admissions include reserved categories: General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Sikh Minority, Kashmiri Migrants, Single Girl Child, and Orphan (male and female).

  • Special attention was given to:

    • 1,325 single girl child applicants

    • 259 orphan candidates (127 female, 132 male)

Important Dates:

  • Seat Acceptance Deadline: July 21, 4:59 PM

  • College Approval Deadline: July 22

  • Fee Payment Deadline: July 23

  • Second Round Seat Allocation: July 28 at 5 PM

  • Classes for First-Year Students Begin: August 1

Performance-based programme allocations (like Hindustani Music, Physical Education, Fine Art, etc.) will be conducted in Round 3, with trial schedules to be made available on college websites.

To promote transparency, allocation ranks and minimum scores are being shared on student dashboards and will be made public via the official DU admission portal.
