New Delhi: The Delhi High Court declined any protection against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for money laundering in the liquor policy case, on Thursday.
The bench comprising Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Manoj Jain said, “We have heard both the sides and we are not inclined to pass any order at this stage.”. However, the bench directs the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file a fresh response to the interim relief regarding Kejriwal’s petition.
Kejriwal has moved to the High Court against the ED summons citing them as a tool for the political vendetta of BJP and PM Modi. He also asked for protection against ED arrest in the plea. Whereas, earlier ED has issued nine summons to Kejriwal to appear before it in connection to the liquor policy scam.
The court reminded him that first he is a citizen of India and must respond to the legal summons accordingly. The court also asked to show cause why he is not appearing before the agency.
