Actor Deepika Padukone has officially confirmed that she will star in Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Deepika shared a heartfelt post along with a close-up photo of her holding Shah Rukh Khan’s hand on set.
Her announcement comes just days after Vyjayanthi Movies revealed that she would no longer be part of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel.
Deepika’s Emotional Note
In her post, Deepika recalled SRK’s advice from nearly two decades ago.
“The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success,” she wrote.
Deepika added that this philosophy has guided all her career decisions since. “That’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together,” she wrote, tagging Shah Rukh and director Siddharth Anand.
Her husband Ranveer Singh reacted to the post, commenting: “Bestest Besties!”
Fans Celebrate the Reunion
Fans flooded the post with excitement, celebrating Deepika and Shah Rukh’s return to the screen. The duo previously collaborated on Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Jawan, and Pathaan.
Exit from Kalki 2898 AD Sequel
Earlier this week, production house Vyjayanthi Movies announced Deepika’s departure from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel.
Their official statement read:
“After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. A film like Kalki 2898 AD deserves the highest level of commitment. We wish Deepika the best for her future projects.”
Deepika played a key role in the first part of the sci-fi epic alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. The 2024 blockbuster grossed around ₹1100 crore worldwide.
What to Expect from King
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King boasts an ensemble cast including Suhana Khan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma.
Deepika is also working with Allu Arjun in Atlee’s highly awaited film AA22xA6, keeping her busy through the end of 2025.
