A bomb blast along the National Highway 16 near Chhatia in Jajpur district on Tuesday afternoon left two people dead and one critically injured. The explosion has prompted an urgent police investigation into its cause and those responsible.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Pingua of Neulapur village and Madhu Munda of Chanditala village, while the injured, Mantu Patra of Gunthuni village, has been rushed to Cuttack SCBMCH for treatment.

According to reports, the impact of the blast was so severe that body parts were scattered around the site. Jajpur  Superintendent of Police Yashpratap Shrimal and other senior officers arrived swiftly, coordinating efforts with a scientific team to uncover the circumstances leading to the explosion.

While investigations are ongoing, authorities are actively seeking eyewitnesses to piece together the events that led to the deadly incident.

Several speculations regarding the blast’s cause have emerged. Some locals suspect that the victims were deliberately targeted, while others believe the explosion occurred after consuming liquor at a country liquor factory nearby.

Another prevailing theory suggests that the deceased individuals may have been carrying explosives on their bikes, which could have triggered the explosion.

Police are focusing on forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts to determine whether the blast was an accident or an orchestrated attack. Further updates are expected as authorities dig deeper into the case.
