A violent clash erupted in Kantamal’s Guduguda weekly market in Boudh district, leaving one brother dead and another critically injured during a dispute over cattle trade.
The incident unfolded around 4:30 pm when two groups engaged in a heated argument over cattle business. Suddenly, three to four men armed with shovels and sharp weapons attacked two brothers from Talupali village under Baunsuni police station.
The victims, identified as Ramani Mahakud (40) and Ratnakar Mahakud (48), suffered severe injuries. Police rushed to the scene immediately. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Laren Rautaray transported Ramani to Manmunda hospital in his official vehicle. Doctors declared him dead before treatment.
Meanwhile, Ratnakar received initial treatment at Baunsuni hospital before being shifted to Sonepur hospital in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that the attackers fled after the assault.
