A shocking incident unfolded at the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital when staff discovered the body of a newborn girl abandoned in a bathroom.

According to reports, an unidentified woman allegedly delivered the baby inside the women’s ward bathroom and fled, leaving the infant behind. Later, relatives of another patient entered the bathroom and noticed the dead child. They immediately alerted hospital staff, who rushed to the spot and confirmed the presence of the newborn lying lifeless on the bathroom floor.

Hospital authorities have begun an investigation to identify the mother and determine the circumstances under which she entered the ward. Officials suspect that a woman in advanced labour may have delivered the child inside the bathroom and, frightened by the situation, abandoned the baby before escaping.

Medical staff on duty declined to comment on the incident. Meanwhile, police and hospital administration are working together to trace the woman involved.
