The Vigilance Department’s ongoing probe into disproportionate assets (DA) owned by Ashok Kumar Panda, Assistant Engineer at R&B Division-III, Bhubaneswar, entered its third day with startling revelations of further properties linked to the official and his associates.
According to officials, newly identified assets include:
- A flat at Royal Habitat, Jatani, Khordha
- A commercial unit in DLF Cyber City, Bhubaneswar
- Residential flats in Grace Apartment, Grand Awas Fulnakhara, Utkal Utopia Pahala, and Vipul Garden
- A benami flat in Cosmopolis, Bhubaneswar
- Multiple plots in the Lavanya Cosmos project, Athagarh, Cuttack
Vigilance teams have been dispatched to these locations to verify documents and ownership structures.
This follows the significant haul on Day 2, which revealed:
- A four-storey house at Somnath Garden, Dumduma
- A building at LIG-356, Dumduma Housing Board Colony
- A luxurious 4-BHK flat in Cosmopolis and multiple shops in Utkal Kanika Galleria and Symphony Mall
- Eight high-value plots spread across Bhubaneswar and Puri
- Cash totalling Rs 1.33 lakh, gold jewellery (125.33gms), silver ornaments (117.1gms), deposits worth Rs 37.97 lakh, a Volkswagen Polo, and household assets worth Rs 21 lakh
The volume and diversity of assets—many allegedly acquired via proxies—have raised serious concerns over corruption and abuse of office.
The probe continues, with more locations under surveillance and document verification underway. Authorities expect to unearth further layers of the asset trail in the coming days.
