A devastating fire broke out at Bantala Square in Angul after four gas cylinders exploded inside a roadside eatery.
The blast triggered a chain reaction, engulfing more than ten shops in flames and spreading panic across the busy marketplace.
Eyewitnesses reported a loud explosion followed by thick smoke and raging flames that quickly spread to nearby establishments. Several shops selling groceries, snacks, and household items were reduced to ashes. The intensity of the blaze forced shopkeepers and locals to flee the area.
Fire service teams rushed to the spot and launched a massive operation to control the fire. Firefighters deployed multiple engines and worked tirelessly to prevent the flames from spreading further. Despite their efforts, several adjacent shops sustained heavy damage.
Authorities confirmed that four cylinders exploded in quick succession, intensifying the fire. The incident caused significant property loss, though no casualties have been reported so far. Police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic to ensure safety.
