East Coast Railway has announced the temporary cancellation of multiple train services and short-termination of others in view of the approaching Cyclone Arnab, a very severe cyclonic storm that is set to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast.
East Coast Railway has cancelled several key services operating in the region. These include the Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Express (18515/18516) for journeys commencing between October 29 and November 4, the Rourkela–Jagdalpur Express (18107/18108) from October 30 to November 5, and the Howrah–Jagdalpur Express (18005/18006) for selected dates from October 27 to 31. Multiple passenger and express trains on the Visakhapatnam–Koraput and Visakhapatnam–Kirandul routes, such as 58538/58537 and 58501/58502, have also been cancelled between October 27 and 31.
Additionally, the Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Express (18447) will be short-terminated at Rayagada for journeys from October 27 to 30, while the return service (18448) will originate from Rayagada from October 28 to 31. Railway authorities have urged passengers to verify the latest train status before starting their journeys and plan travel accordingly.
The cancellations are part of broader precautionary measures as Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas of Odisha prepare for the cyclone. IMD has issued a red-level warning, and state authorities have begun preparations for possible evacuations in low-lying coastal areas amid expectations of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and storm surge.
Passengers holding tickets for the affected trains are advised to check the official East Coast Railway website, IRCTC, or the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) for the most current information, as additional changes may be announced depending on the cyclone’s track and intensity.
