Cuttack: An 11-day infant who was evacuated during the major fire mishap at a private hospital in the Purighat area of Cuttack city yesterday, succumbed while undergoing treatment at Sishu Bhawan on Sunday.
There are no fire-related injuries on the infant’s body, informed the Sishu Bhawan Superintendent. The infant reportedly belonged to the Chandbali area of Bhadrak district.
A fire broke out at a private hospital in the Purighat area of Cuttack on Saturday, leading to the evacuation of 45 patients, including 17 newborns.

Fire services personnel extinguished the blaze and rescued those trapped inside the building.
A total of 17 newborns were shifted to Sishu Bhawan, while the adult patients were admitted to SCBMCH and some to other hospitals in the city.
