A private hospital named ‘Popular Nursing Home & Hospital’ located in Mangalabag, Cuttack, has been sealed by the district administration.

The hospital, which has been operating for 45 years, failed to provide valid certifications under the Fire Safety and the Clinical Establishments (Regulation and Registration) Act since 2015.

Despite receiving repeated notices, the hospital did not meet the necessary safety standards. A recent surprise raid confirmed the absence of proper fire and clinical safety arrangements.

The hospital owner claims that the building was only used for consultancy and that fire safety measures were in place; however, the authorities disagreed with this assertion. This action comes in the wake of a significant fire incident in the neonatal ICU of another private hospital in Purighat, Cuttack, that occurred last year.
