Balasore: The curfew has been entirely lifted from Balasore affected by violence, as the law and order situation has seen significant improvement, informed officials on Tuesday.
Following a joint press conference held at the Collectorate today, District Collector Ashish Thakare and SP Sagarika Nath informed that the curfew restrictions have been lifted from the Balasore Municipality area.
“The situation is under complete control and the micro-peace committee has taken full responsibility for peace in its region while all efforts are being made to establish peace in Balasore,” said the District Collector and further appealed to all the people to maintain peace.
Similarly, SP Sagarika Nath said, “We are fully prepared to handle any kind of untoward situation and also for upcoming celebrations of Muharram and Rath Yatra of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.”

“A total of 24 cases have been registered and 94 people have been arrested in connection with the violence. Some others who are involved will be also arrested,” added the Balasore SP.
