A farmer from Karasuda village under Titlagarh block in Bolangir district allegedly took his own life due to financial distress.
The deceased, identified as Durga Bhoi, son of Parameswar Bhoi, reportedly consumed poison after failing to repay a group loan following severe crop losses this season.
According to family sources, Durga had been under immense stress over his inability to meet loan obligations. His cousin, Bhaskar Bhoi, confirmed that Durga was first rushed to Sindhekela Hospital and later referred to Titilagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors then advised shifting him to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DDH), but he tragically passed away en route.
This incident has reignited concerns over farmer welfare, loan accessibility, and the need for robust support systems in rural Odisha.
