Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Odisha again in November or December, as announced by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das.
The visit is part of a major program planned by the state Congress to address key issues such as electoral malpractices, poverty, and women’s safety.
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi will participate in roadshows, address large public gatherings, and attend events across various districts. This visit is expected to energise the state Congress, which has been out of power in Odisha for over two decades. The last time Congress formed the government in the state was in 1995, and since then, the party has struggled to regain its foothold in state elections.
Despite being ousted from power, Congress has shown resilience in the past. In the 1970s, after losing the state government and even slipping to the fourth opposition party, Congress bounced back to form the government again.
Recently, Rahul Gandhi’s participation in the Constitution Protection Rally in Baramunda, Bhubaneswar, garnered significant public support, signalling a potential revival for the party.
With the upcoming panchayat elections in focus, senior Congress leaders believe Rahul Gandhi’s visit will serve as a booster for the Odisha Pradesh Congress. The impact of his visit on the party’s prospects in the state remains to be seen.
