Congress Bolsters Odisha Leadership: AICC Appoints 35 District Presidents

In a significant move to revitalise its grassroots network, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced the appointment of presidents for 35 district and urban Congress committees across Odisha.


The decisions, cleared by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das, form a key part of the party’s ongoing organisational rebuilding campaign. AICC observers had conducted extensive surveys in every district, submitting detailed reports that informed these selections.

The appointments, effective immediately as per a circular issued by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, are expected to inject fresh energy into the Odisha Congress, fortifying its structure ahead of future electoral battles. Party insiders hail the initiative as a strategic step to enhance local leadership and deepen community engagement.

Among the notable appointees is Ghasi Ram Majhi for Nuapada district, Prakasha Chandra Jena for Bhubaneswar, Pradipta Kumar Das for Cuttack district, and Giribala Behera for Cuttack City. The full list of new district presidents includes:
