In a major legal development, a commercial court has directed the attachment and seizure of assets belonging to the Office of the Director of Land Records and Survey in Cuttack to recover outstanding dues of ₹9.44 crore.
The order follows a petition filed by a private firm based in Silvassa seeking payment of pending amounts. After reviewing the plea, the court instructed authorities to complete the attachment process by March 10.
Attempt to Enforce Earlier Order
On February 18, officials reportedly attempted to execute the court’s attachment order at the office premises. During the process, the premises were allegedly locked, and staff members were not present, which temporarily delayed the proceedings.
Fresh Directive to Proceed With Seizure
In its latest directive, the court has asked the concerned authorities to move forward with the confiscation of office equipment and related assets to recover the ₹9.44 crore dues. The action has drawn administrative attention, as asset attachment involving a key government office is considered an unusual measure in recovery cases.
Authorities are expected to take further legal and administrative steps as the March 10 deadline approaches.
