Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 3 crore and one acre land in Puri for the construction of a dharmasala for the Kulta Samaj.
The move came two days after the samaj, a prominent farming community of western Odisha, met the CM at his residence and demanded accommodation facilities for them in the pilgrim town.
A delegation of the Kulta Samaj had met him on November 28 and requested him for a dharmsala building as lakhs of devotees from the community visit Lord Jagannath temple every year to pay obeisance to the trinity and for other religious activities.
Members of Kulta community from Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Brajraj nagar had moved the Naveen Niwas.
The CM had accepted their request and directed the district administration take immediate measures on their demand.
He had directed the Collector to demarcate one acre suitable land for the construction of the building. The construction will be completed in a year.
