Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 29.36 crore in the second phase for the construction of new cyclone shelters across the State.
The State government has been constructing 55 new safe structures at a cost of Rs 98 crore. The Chief Minister had sanctioned Rs 29.36 crore for the project in first phase in April this year.
These shelters have played an important role in protecting people during natural disasters such as cyclones and floods. The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has undertaken the construction works of the safe houses. Significant progress has been made in the first phase.
In the second phase, another Rs 29.36 crore has been sanctioned by the Chief Minister to expedite the work. In addition, the Odisha CM has directed to complete the work as soon as possible.
