Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is currently stationed at Bhubaneswar Airport to commence an aerial survey of regions ravaged by heavy rainfall and flooding.
The survey, aimed at gauging the extent of damage, is a critical step in the state government’s disaster response strategy.
Joining the Chief Minister are Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Higher Education and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Deoranjan Singh, and several senior departmental officials.
The Indian Air Force has deployed helicopters for the operation, which arrived on site in preparation for the aerial reconnaissance. However, the flight has been postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Authorities are awaiting clearance from the Meteorological Department. As soon as conditions permit, the aerial mission will be launched to review the impact of flooding and plan immediate relief and rehabilitation measures.
This proactive step comes in the wake of widespread inundation across various districts, where thousands remain affected and agricultural damage continues to mount.
