Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan regarding the construction of the new Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area.

The upcoming seven-storey building will reflect the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and serve as a vital administrative and hospitality hub for Odia citizens visiting the national capital.

The Chief Minister advised architects to incorporate traditional Odia elements such as intricate stone carvings, Sambalpuri Ikat designs, and motifs representing Odisha’s customs and legacy. The building will span 4,761 square meters and feature 45 suites of varying sizes, along with a dedicated conference hall.

Given the increasing number of cancer patients from Odisha seeking treatment in Mumbai, the Chief Minister also recommended expanding room capacity at the Mumbai Odisha Bhavan. Additionally, he proposed new Odisha Bhavans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat—cities with significant Odia populations or religious footfall.

The meeting also addressed the renovation and modernisation of Utkal Bhavan in Kolkata.

Senior officials present included Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary to CM Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sanjeeb Mishra, and Principal Secretary (Works) Sanjay Kumar Singh.
