Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi marked Rakhi Purnima with a significant gesture of empowerment by disbursing the third instalment of the Subhadra Yojana to over one crore women beneficiaries across Odisha.
🔹 Empowerment Through Subhadra Yojana
- Over Rs 5,000 was credited directly to the bank accounts of each beneficiary.
- In Kotia Gram Panchayat, 1,783 women received the third instalment, following earlier disbursements to 1,797 and 1,795 beneficiaries respectively.
- CM Majhi emphasised that Subhadra is not just a scheme but a “ray of hope” for mothers forced to abandon their dreams due to financial constraints.
“Subhadra has created a new chapter of progress and transformation in the lives of countless women,” said CM Majhi.
🔹 Over Rs 762 Crore Development Push in Koraput
Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 436 projects worth over Rs 452 crore and inaugurated 126 new initiatives valued at Rs 309.42 crore.
In total, developmental works exceeding Rs 762 crore were launched, spanning key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, tourism, and connectivity. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasised that these projects will accelerate the district’s growth and improve the quality of life for its residents.
“These initiatives mark a transformative chapter for Koraput. Once operational, they will significantly enhance regional development and public welfare,” he stated.
- Education: Announcement of a new college in Jeypore.
- Health & Infrastructure: Roads, bridges, and tourism facilities.
- Industry Revival: Reopening of the defunct Jeypore Paper Mill.
🔹 Vande Bharat Express to Connect Jeypore–Bhubaneswar
CM Majhi announced the upcoming launch of Vande Bharat Express between Jeypore and Bhubaneswar, promising faster and more efficient travel for southern Odisha.
🔹 Subhadra Yojana: A Multi-Dimensional Model
The scheme now includes several verticals:
- Subhadra Plus: Capital support for micro-enterprises.
- Subhadra Shakti Mela: Showcasing women entrepreneurs.
- Subhadra Kishori: Adolescent girls’ empowerment.
- Subhadra Sanchaya & Suraksha: Financial literacy and safety.
- Subhadra Sakhi: Leadership development.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Prabhati Parida highlighted the scheme’s transformative impact, noting that Odisha has produced over 17 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’ under PM Modi’s vision.
The event saw participation from several prominent figures, including Ministers Nityananda Gond, Gokulananda Mallik, and Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak; Member of Parliament Balabhadra Majhi; Members of the Legislative Assembly Raghuram Machha, Narasingha Madkami, Gauri Shankar Majhi, Tara Prasad Bahinipati, and Rupu Bhatra; as well as senior officials such as WCD Secretary Shubha Sharma, Director Monisha Banerjee, and Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated during the event, where Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and other women tied rakhis on Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s hand.
Earlier, Shri Majhi celebrated Rakhi Purnima with students at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Arvind Nagar, Jeypore.
