In a significant move to champion socially relevant cinema, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the proposal to exempt the upcoming Odia film Aafaa from entertainment tax.
Directed by Pritiraj Satapathy and produced by Naina Dash Tiwari, Aafaa is a deeply moving story centred on organ donation. The film follows the extraordinary journey of a 16-year-old girl who, despite battling a serious long-term illness, courageously steps forward to donate her organs.
Set against the backdrop of personal adversity and family struggles, the narrative highlights the girl’s selflessness and unwavering spirit. It aims to inspire humanity, ignite conversations around organ donation, and create meaningful awareness among the youth.
By granting tax-free status to Aafaa, Chief Minister Majhi has not only supported the Odia film industry but also ensured that this powerful message of hope and sacrifice reaches the widest possible audience without any financial barriers.
The film is expected to serve as a strong social catalyst, encouraging more people — especially young minds — to consider the life-saving impact of organ donation.
With its emotional depth and inspiring core, Aafaa is poised to leave a lasting impression and set a new benchmark for meaningful storytelling in Odia cinema.
