Seasoned seamer Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test against India due to a shoulder injury.
The announcement came from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) just ahead of Day 2’s play on August 1.
Woakes, known for his dependable all-round abilities, will not feature in the remainder of the match, with further assessment scheduled after the conclusion of the series. His absence could prove pivotal as England looks to end the campaign on a strong note.
The injury adds to England’s selection woes, already dealing with a high-intensity series and a competitive Indian side on home turf.
With the final Test holding strategic importance, England will now need to recalibrate their bowling attack and find a suitable replacement for Woakes.
