China has strongly dismissed US President Donald Trump’s allegations that Beijing is “conspiring” against Washington alongside Russia and North Korea.
Speaking at a press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun asserted that China’s diplomacy is never targeted at any third party, adding that Beijing’s relationships with Moscow and Pyongyang are aimed at mutual cooperation, not hostility toward others.
The statement came after Trump, in a Truth Social post, congratulated China on its victory day parade but added a provocative line asking Xi Jinping to “give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against the United States of America.”
The Beijing parade, which commemorated China’s victory over Japanese aggression during World War II, marked the first time Xi, Putin, and Kim were seen together at such an event.
Russia Responds:
The Kremlin also downplayed Trump’s remark, with foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov saying he hoped Trump “was being ironical.” Ushakov added, “No one has been plotting anything, no conspiracies,” while acknowledging Trump’s influence on global affairs.
Trump’s U-Turn:
Just hours later, Trump softened his tone, telling reporters in the Oval Office that he has a “very good” relationship with Xi, Putin, and Kim. However, he expressed mild disappointment that Xi did not mention the US in his parade speech.
“When they did what they did, I thought it was a beautiful ceremony; it was very impressive… My relationship with all of them is very good, and we are going to find out how good it is over the next week or two,” Trump said.
Xi-Kim Talks Announced:
China also revealed that Xi Jinping will soon hold bilateral talks with Kim Jong Un, aimed at boosting strategic communication, governance exchange, and cooperation between the two countries. No date was specified for the meeting.
