In a significant move towards strengthening digital governance and improving citizen convenience, the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) has launched a cashless payment system at its office located in Arunodaya Bhawan, Link Road, Cuttack.

As part of this initiative, a Point of Sale (PoS)-based Digital Payment Facility has been made operational to streamline financial transactions and reduce reliance on manual cash handling. The decision has been taken in public interest to enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of service delivery.

A dedicated Digital Payment Cell has been established at the Finance Branch single-window counter, enabling allottees, licensees, and applicants to make payments of up to ₹5 lakh through QR Code, UPI, and card swipe modes. With the introduction of this system, cash payments up to ₹5 lakh will no longer be accepted at the CDA office.

To ensure greater accountability, all branch officers have been instructed to submit copies of every demand letter to the Digital Payment Cell, ensuring proper record-keeping and monitoring of transactions.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chairperson, CDA, Ms Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, IAS, said the initiative would significantly improve operational efficiency and public convenience.

“The introduction of the digital payment system will bring greater transparency and efficiency in office functioning. It will significantly expedite payments and save valuable time for allottees, who will no longer be required to visit banks repeatedly for obtaining demand drafts for smaller amounts, as the QR code transaction limit has now been enhanced to ₹5 lakh. This citizen-friendly initiative reflects CDA’s commitment to simplified procedures, improved service delivery, and technology-driven governance,” she said.

The move aligns with the broader goal of promoting cashless transactions, digital public services, and smart urban administration.
