Police in Bhubaneswar carried out a major operation against cattle smuggling in the Patrapada area, seizing a container truck loaded with nearly 30 cattle.
The vehicle was reportedly moving from Andhra Pradesh towards Bihar when police intercepted it.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a raid near Patrapada and stopped the container. Inside, officers found cattle tied in distressing conditions. The animals were rescued and later sent to a local goshala for care. Police arrested three smugglers involved in the operation and began interrogating them to identify other members of the racket.
Officials confirmed that questioning of the accused is ongoing, and further investigation is being conducted to trace the larger network behind the smuggling. Authorities emphasised that Odisha has strict laws against cattle smuggling and illegal slaughter, and this operation marks a significant success in enforcing those laws.
