Pablo Carreno Busta made a triumphant return to clay courts at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech, securing his first win on the surface since 2022.

The Spanish tennis star defeated Moroccan wildcard Younes Lalami Laaroussi with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 scoreline, advancing to the tournament’s second round.

The 33-year-old, who has struggled with elbow injuries over the past two years, showcased his skills and resilience during the 75-minute match. Carreno Busta won 85% of his first-serve points and demonstrated why he remains a formidable force on the ATP circuit.

With this win, the Spaniard climbs 10 spots to No. 100 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, setting the stage for a challenging clash against top seed Tallon Griekspoor in the next round. As he aims for a deep run in Marrakech, Carreno Busta looks determined to reclaim his place among tennis’s elite.

In other notable results, Polish qualifier Kamil Majchrzak upset sixth seed Jaume Munar, while eighth seed Mattia Bellucci advanced with a straight-sets victory over Pavel Kotov.
