After a challenging first set, Alcaraz adjusted his strategy, embracing a more aggressive return position that dramatically improved his performance. With 44 percent more first-serve returns landed and smart tactical moves, he dominated the match, thrilling fans with his signature drop shots and attacking gameplay.
Alcaraz now advances to face Daniel Altmaier, who defeated Richard Gasquet earlier in the day. Gasquet, making his final appearance in Monaco after 23 years, plans to retire post-Roland Garros this year.
Other tournament highlights included Rublev’s solid victory over Monfils, Tabilo’s shocking upset of Djokovic, and the rise of young talents Fils and Musetti.
