A Swift car caught fire due to a short circuit near Aryan Hotel at Kishan Chhak in Jharsuguda around 4 pm on Saturday.
Witnesses said the vehicle, bearing registration number MH15 CD 5092, had arrived from Sambalpur and was parked near the hotel when smoke began to emerge. The driver noticed the burning smell and quickly moved away. Moments later, the front portion of the car burst into flames.
Firefighters rushed to the spot after receiving information and successfully extinguished the blaze. The front section of the car was completely damaged, but no casualties were reported.
Local residents gathered at the site as the fire spread rapidly, but timely intervention by the fire brigade prevented further damage. Authorities confirmed that the incident was caused by an electrical short circuit inside the vehicle.
The accident created panic in the busy area, but officials assured that the situation was brought under control without harm to anyone nearby.
