A bus carrying 20 artistes of the Opera Western Odisha Jatra Party overturned at Dhangapathar Ghati in Deogarh district, leaving several performers injured.
The accident occurred when the troupe returned from a performance in Dhangapathar village. The bus lost control while navigating the hilly stretch of Dhangapathar Ghati under Riamal police station limits. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the artistes from the damaged vehicle.
Doctors at Kansar Hospital treated the injured immediately. Those with serious injuries were shifted to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital for advanced care. Medical teams worked quickly to stabilise the condition of the critically injured artists.
Police officers from Riamal station reached the accident site and began an investigation. Authorities are examining the cause of the mishap and assessing whether mechanical failure or driver fatigue contributed to the tragedy.
