A BSF Jawan’s hand was severed in a train accident at Muniguda railway station while he was disembarking from the moving train.
Ashok Kumar Meena, a jawan from the 136th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), was airlifted to Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment after his left hand was completely severed in the accident.
The mishap occurred while Jawan Meena was disembarking from the moving Jagdalpur-Howrah-Samaleswari Express. The sudden fall onto the tracks resulted in a severe injury. Prompt action by RPF ASI K. Swayam Prakash and RPF officer D.K. Gurjar led to the immediate rescue of the injured Jawan. They transported him to the Muniguda Community Health Center, where primary treatment was administered.
Following the initial treatment, Meena was shifted to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital for further medical care. Due to the critical nature of his injury, he was then airlifted to Bhubaneswar by a BSF helicopter from a temporary helipad at JKpur.
According to Birendra Kumar, Meena’s friend and companion, the jawan was returning from a sector-level IT course in Koraput when the accident occurred. A case has been registered at Muniguda RPF Police Station, and ASI K. Swayam Prakash is leading the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns about passenger safety, especially while boarding or alighting from moving trains. Further details on Meena’s condition and the investigation are awaited.
