A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan from the 182nd battalion was detained by Pakistan Rangers after accidentally crossing the international border near Punjab.
According to officials, Constable PK Singh was apprehended by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday after he inadvertently crossed the Ferozepur border in Punjab.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the jawan, in uniform and carrying his service rifle, accompanied farmers and moved ahead to rest in the shade.
Talks between BSF and Pakistan Rangers, including a flag meeting, are currently in progress to secure his release.
Such cross-border incidents have happened in the past, highlighting the complexity of maintaining peaceful relations in border areas. This event comes amid heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack, which has led to India’s strong measures against Pakistan for its alleged sponsorship of terrorism.
Indian officials remain hopeful for the jawan’s swift return as dialogue continues.
