Odisha Vigilance has arrested Golap Chandra Hansdah, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Boudh district, for possessing disproportionate assets far beyond his known sources of income.
The arrest follows extensive raids conducted on Hansdah’s properties by Vigilance officials, revealing a staggering collection of assets, including:
- A multi-storeyed residential building
- 44 plots spread across various locations
- 1 kilogram of gold (including 2 gold biscuits, each weighing 50 grams)
- Over 2 kilograms of silver
- Cash exceeding Rs 2.38 lakhs
- Bank and investment deposits worth over Rs 1.34 crore
- Rs 40 lakhs allegedly spent on his daughter’s medical education
- A diary with records of suspected benami transactions
Hansdah failed to provide satisfactory explanations for the wealth, prompting officials to register a case against him under the Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 7/2025. He will be produced today before the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Baripada.
