Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary was administered COVID-19 vaccine at Capital Hospital here on Thursday.
The vaccination drive is underway since January 16 and the second phase is now covering all the frontline workers across the State.
The BMC has begun the process for the vaccination of the elderly and persons with comorbidities, informed the Commissioner.
According to reports, there are around 20,000 to 25,000 elderly persons in the capital city.
The BMC has formed three teams for three zones to collect their details. The exact number of the elderly persons will be known after the BMC gets the final data, said Chaudhary.
The elderly will also be vaccinated at the hospitals and CHCs in the city where health workers were given the jab earlier, he added.
Meanwhile, DMET CBK Mohanty has said that a database of senior citizens will be prepared and the number of vaccination centers will be decided after the preparation of the database.
The vaccine will be provided free at govt hospitals, said Mohanty.
