Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced no hoarding zones in the Capital city as a part of city beautification ahead of the Men’s Hockey world cup.
Several areas in the city have been declared hoarding free zones. The stretch from Airport to AG square to Raj Bhawan and Raj Bhawan to Power House square came under the restricted zone.
Similarly, putting up hoarding and banners, be it government or private or any political party, is strictly restricted on the stretch between Rabindra Mandap to 120 Batallion, AG square to PMG and PMG to Janapath.
A special squad has been formed to enforce the restriction. If any poster or hoarding is put in prohibited areas, the special squad will seize them, Mayor Sulochana Das said.
Apart from Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, where world cup is scheduled to be held from January 13, hockey fever also gripped other cities of the State.
A 22-feet hockey stick has been sculpted by an artist in Puri. Maheswar Maharana of the pilgrim town has made 16 such sticks which will be displayed in Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and other towns.
