Odisha has taken a major step towards strengthening its global economic and technological presence with the inauguration of the Black Swan Summit 2026 in Bhubaneswar. Being hosted in India for the first time, the two-day international summit (February 5–6) positions Odisha as an emerging hub for innovation, digital transformation, and global investment.
The summit is expected to unlock significant employment and career opportunities for Odia youth, including pathways to international jobs and global capability centres. The participation of President of India, Droupadi Murmu, highlights the national and international importance of the event.
A Global Platform for Policy, Finance and Technology
The Black Swan Summit serves as a high-impact platform bringing together policymakers, global financial institutions, technology leaders, start-ups, investors, and academic experts. The discussions are focused on practical outcomes, collaboration, and future-ready solutions across sectors.
According to Vishal Dev, Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department, Government of Odisha, the summit has drawn participants from 24 countries across five continents. Key deliberations include policy formulation, curriculum development, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
The Odisha government has allocated ₹112 crore for the summit, with additional funding support from the Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN). Several global companies have expressed interest in establishing Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in the state, which is expected to boost investment and generate employment opportunities for at least 7,000 students.
Boost to Odisha’s Digital Economy Vision
Aligned with Odisha’s long-term vision for a technology-driven digital economy, the Black Swan Summit aims to empower local talent and position the state as a competitive destination for global enterprises. The initiative seeks to create world-class opportunities for Odia professionals, enabling them to compete and succeed on an international stage.
Strong International Participation and Strategic Collaboration
The summit is being organised under the BharatNetra initiative of the Government of Odisha, in collaboration with the Singapore-based Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN). This partnership reflects Odisha’s growing engagement with international institutions and global innovation ecosystems.
The event features participation from over 1,700 organisations worldwide, with nearly 100 speakers from five continents, making it one of the most significant global technology and policy gatherings hosted by the state.
