The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly rebuked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his recent allegations of large-scale voter deletion across states, which he described as “software-based vote theft.”
BJP MP and senior leader Anurag Thakur responded at a press conference, accusing Gandhi of repeatedly making baseless claims and turning politics into a platform for unfounded accusations.
Thakur stated that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress has lost nearly 90 elections, and his growing frustration has led to a pattern of unverified allegations. “He was supposed to drop a hydrogen bomb in today’s press conference, but ended up with a sparkler that fizzled out,” Thakur said, mocking Gandhi’s earlier remarks.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) also dismissed Gandhi’s claims, stating that no voter deletion can occur without due process and an opportunity for the affected person to be heard. Gandhi had accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of shielding those undermining democracy.
The political exchange has intensified ahead of upcoming state elections, with both parties sharpening their narratives around electoral integrity and democratic accountability.
