RJD leader and Bihar Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav has unveiled a major pre-election promise ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Yadav declared that his party would ensure at least one person from every household in Bihar gets a government job if they return to power.
Employment Guarantee Promise
Yadav outlined that a new law would be enacted within 20 days of forming the government to guarantee this employment. He further stated that the scheme would be fully implemented across the state within 20 months.
“We will ensure that every household will have a person with a government job after our government comes to power. We will make a new Act for it within 20 days, and in 20 months, not a single house will be without a government job,” Yadav said.
Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Overview
The 243 Assembly seats in Bihar will go to the polls in two phases: November 6 and November 11. Vote counting is scheduled for November 14.
According to the Election Commission, the final electoral list currently has 7.42 crore voters, down from 7.89 crore in June 2025. A total of 65 lakh voters were removed from the draft list, which stood at 7.24 crore as of August 1, 2025.
Implications
If implemented, Yadav’s promise could be one of the most significant employment schemes in recent Indian state politics. The announcement is expected to be a key talking point in Bihar’s 2025 assembly election campaigns, with voters closely watching how parties plan to tackle employment and welfare issues.
