Gopal Khemka, a well-known businessman and BJP leader from Bihar, was shot dead late Friday night near his residence in Patna. The incident bears chilling similarities to the 2018 murder of his son, Gunjan Khemka, who was also gunned down under similar circumstances.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 11 PM near Hotel Panache in the Gandhi Maidan area. Khemka was returning home when he was attacked just steps away from his apartment complex, which is located adjacent to the hotel.

Patna Superintendent of Police Diksha confirmed the murder, stating, “We received information at around 11 PM on July 4 that businessman Gopal Khemka was shot in the Gandhi Maidan area. The crime scene has been secured, and an investigation is in progress.”

Police recovered a bullet and a shell from the scene, and confirmed that Khemka died on the spot. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify the attacker and determine the motive behind the crime.

The killing has shocked the local business and political community, especially since it comes six years after the unsolved murder of Khemka’s son.
