In a significant push toward urban transformation, Mr. Avinas Misra, Chief Executive of Surbana Jurong South Asia, and Mr. Abhisek Malhotra, Regional Director, Surbana Jurong, met with Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, at Kharavela Bhawan today.
The high-level meeting centred on the Bhubaneswar New City Project, a flagship initiative aimed at developing a world-class urban centre. The Government of Odisha has earmarked approximately 338.436 hectares for the proposed city, which will be pitched to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the Urban Challenge Fund.
Designed to be inclusive, vibrant, and resilient, the new city will focus on optimising land value and achieving global recognition. The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is considering JLL for preparing the master plan and recommending a strategic product mix to guide development. Notably, an MoU between BDA and JLL was signed during the visit of the Hon’ble President of Singapore to Bhubaneswar, underscoring international collaboration.
Smt. Usha Padhee remarked, “The Bhubaneswar New City Project is a landmark step for Odisha to shape a world-class urban centre, reflecting inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience for future generations.”
This initiative marks a pivotal moment in Odisha’s urban planning journey, aligning global expertise with local aspirations.
