Bhubaneswar witnessed a tragic incident as Sonali Mahapatra, an employee of a private finance company from Nayagarh, was found dead at a hotel in Jagamara late Wednesday night.
The police have detained her male companion, Bibhuti Pratihari, for questioning as they investigate the circumstances surrounding her fatal fall from the hotel rooftop.
According to reports, the duo checked into the hotel earlier that day and were later heard arguing around 11 PM. Witnesses state that they proceeded to the rooftop shortly after, where Sonali reportedly fell to her death.
Authorities note that the hotel’s rooftop lacks CCTV surveillance, making it difficult to ascertain whether Sonali jumped or was pushed. Preliminary investigations indicate a possible suicide, but officials are still verifying the sequence of events.
Sonali’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination at Capital Hospital. Police continue their inquiry, questioning Bibhuti and other witnesses to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
