Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today apprehended an Amin of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe for furnishing a favourable report to facilitate the sale of BDA leased property.
BDA Amin Sarbeswar Mohanty was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a complainant for furnishing a favourable report to facilitate the sale of a house allotted in the name of his spouse, which was in a BDA leased property.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid today, wherein the accused Amin Sarbeswar Mohanty, was caught by the Vigilance team at the back side of the BDA office while demanding and accepting an undue advantage of Rs.20,000 from the complainant.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mohanty and seized in the presence of witnesses. Both hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Mohanty gave a positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched in the residential house of Mohanty at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, the house at native village Adhajori in Pattamundai of Kendrapara and his office room.
Accused Amin Sarbeswar Mohanty, has been arrested and is being forwarded. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.34 (dated 11.12.2023 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018) has been registered and is under investigation.
